Amoudi Bay Greece

As you take the 300-step descent down to Amoudi Bay from the picturesque coastal town of Oia, you'll quickly realise why this is one of Santorini's most treasured hidden gems. The tiny port on the northwest of the island is a beautiful setting for a romantic evening walk or a fun daytime swim.

But perhaps the main attraction is the stunning sunset, perfectly visible from the bay's rocky shores. A trip to Amoudi Bay wouldn't be complete without sampling some traditional Greek cuisine. Whichever restaurant you choose, rest assured you'll be feasting on the freshest seafood around. Most of the fish is caught by local fishermen, right in front of you in the bay. The waterfront restaurants serve up some local delicacies, including grilled octopus and saganaki - a delicious fried cheese.

As you enjoy your meal, watch as the sun disappears beyond the horizon, colours changing through vibrant shades of orange, pink and red. When the sun goes down, Amoudi Bay comes to life. Enjoy a drink, soak up the unique ambience, and then brace yourself for the walk back up into Oia.

To avoid the climb, plan ahead by parking your car or moped nearby. Just remember though, parking is limited. As Amoudi Bay disappears beneath you, you won't forget the tranquil blue waters, red mountainsides, delicious seafood, and that once in a lifetime sunset. From the moment you leave, you'll be making a promise to return again one day very soon.
